Saying goodbye...

We've had to say goodbye to something that has been with us for almost two years now. Our digital camera is no more. I'm convinced that it is somewhere in the state of Ohio, but no one really knows for sure. We are doing research to find a good buy on a new one.

Emily is talking up a storm. I just put her down for her nap and she's jabbering away in there. She picks a book to take with her to bed, and reads it out loud to herself. Today she picked "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish". It must be really interesting to her from what I'm hearing. We walked over to campus this morning. It is the perfect fall day. The sky is so blue, I feel like I'm in Colorado again. Except for the lack of mountains and mexicans.

We have band practice tonight, so The Office will have to be recorded. Can't wait!

So, Emily hasn't figured out what the potty chair is for...although she likes to sit on it with a favorite book in hand. She has managed to say "stinky" when she needs a diaper change. That's a move in the right direction. Yesterday, she was calling for me walking down the hallway with her pants at her kneecaps. Another move in the right direction...only because her diaper was wet. It's the little things that make life grand! Have a great weekend. We'll be back Sunday night.

Back in the routine

It seems like we've been so busy lately, but when I stop and think about it nothing major has been happening around here. Band practices are in full swing, all ministries that were off for the summer are up and running again, so that on it's own adds to our schedule. We're teaching Sunday School, leading worship for the youth service, establishing a youth led praise band, and leading worship for the Sunday night service. Add in the random things that we do and we're booked. Like today, Emily went to college. She (and I) were on a panel for a psychology class...talking about infancy. Tonight we'll be putting our suitcases together for a weekend trip to Dayton to visit Nate's family. One thing I like, in the midst of all the busyness, is how crisp the air is getting. Fall is my favorite season, especially in the Midwest. Today was a jeans and long sleeves day. Put a caramel mocha in my hand and it doesn't get much better.

 

 

Emmy's new playhouse

Grandma and Grandpa Lamb came to visit last weekend and they brought Emily a big surprise! A playhouse with a slide! We spent our afternoon out there playing underneath in the "house" portion of the playhouse. We have many a fun day ahead.

As you can see, we had spaghetti for dinner last night. I think more ended up in the air than it did in Emily's tummy. At least she enjoyed it!

Chicago!

We spent our Labor Day up in the windy city. It was SO fun! Seriously, when you can go to IKEA, Jamba Juice, and American Girl (for Emily, of course)...add in perfect blue skies and your family who you love...what could be better? We had a blast. IKEA was very chaotic, as usual, but we got a few things that will help make the most of the cabinet space in our new kitchen, curtains, etc. That place rocks! This morning we started out at THE best smoothie shop in the world...Jamba Juice. Nate gave Emily a sip of his and she drank almost a third of it. His had the energy boost, so she was ready to hit downtown by the time we got there. Our first stop downtown was the American Girl store. Emily has a Bitty Baby that her Grandma Lamb gave her for her birth present. We had fun looking at all of the accessories, making Emily's Christmas list. From there we walked up and down Michigan Ave. window shopping until it was lunch time. What's for lunch in Chicago? Pizza. After lunch we did some more walking just enjoying our day together. We've decided that when we're empty nesters, we're going to live in Chicago!

Welcome IWU freshmen! 

Full House

Last night we had a group of incoming IWU freshmen over for a dessert reception for their first night of orientation. Campus is booming again. It's fun to see everyone back.

Today we went to Auburn for the biggest car show in the nation. It's always fun, but completely exhausting. It's a tradition for Nate's family and some close family friends to get together over Labor Day weekend and walk through acres and acres of classic cars. It's crazy to hear the auctioneer over the loudspeaker shouting out numbers in the 6 digits for cars up for auction. Like it's nothing to spend over 100 grand for "an incredible automobile" as the auctioneer said all day. We had a great time, but we're bushed. Here are some pictures of our day. Good night all!
