Let's go fly a kite

Finals ended on Wednesday, so campus was pretty secluded by Thursday evening. We went for a walk and took Emily's kite along. It was the perfect evening for kite flying. I think Emily is a natural. I'm not sure if she or her Daddy had more fun.

No Zzzzz's for me

The clock on the stove says 1:27am. I've been tossing and turning trying to figure out a new pillow configuration to get comfortable, but am coming to the realization that these next few weeks hold nothing but being uncomfortable when it comes to sleeping. Oreos and milk sounded good, so I went for the 1am snack.

We pre-registered for delivery at MGH today. It opened our eyes to how spoiled we were in Denver delivering Emily. We ran up to the 4th floor to see the labor and delivery rooms. They're in the middle of a cosmetic change, so the walls are all torn apart. The rooms leave much to be desired. As long as we have a healthy baby, facility doesn't matter...but it's a lot different from the hardwood floors and suite-like feel we had at SkyRidge. Just a completely different environment. One thing we won't have to worry about is traffic! Even the worst traffic in Marion is laughable compared to just about anywhere else.

Well, it's 1:38am. We'll try this sleeping thing again. Goodnight all.

Disney Pictures

We're feeling a little rested. I felt bad for Nate getting up for work this morning. Bless his heart. He's such a great guy! I'll try and re-cap our trip in one posting. We flew out Friday evening just missing a pretty crazy storm with golf ball sized hail. We were thankful to get out of Indy when we did, because flights were delayed after we left. Emily did really well on her very first plane ride. We had a little trouble getting our ears to pop on the descent into Memphis, but other than that she was a champ! Daddy had 5 episodes of the Little Einsteins on iTunes on his laptop, so she stayed entertained once we got up in the clouds. We were a sight. Emily had her Einsteins, I had the iPod, and Nate had his Starbucks. We were all happy campers!
We hit the Magic Kingdom pretty early Saturday morning, trying to make the most of our time there...and the fact that neither of us could sleep helped in getting up that morning. We saw Cinderellabration at the Castle right when we got there. That was perfect timing. We left that show a few minutes early and hit the Pooh ride, then the playground. Emily LOVED it! Then came the Carousel, which she was convinced the horses were from Mary Poppins. We rode that over and over and over. Then a cool down at Small World before our character lunch with Winnie the Pooh.
When we got to our table, Tigger was at the table next to ours, so Emily didn't have a chance to be nervous. She and Tigger had a great introduction. When he left Emily said, "BIG Tigger." Eeyore was next, and we weren't so sure about him. Actually she cried. Pooh Bear was next, and she did really well with him. He got a high five. How can you be intimidated of Winnie the Pooh? Piglet, was another story. Even with a few tears shed, the character lunch was worth every minute. It's all she talks about now.
We did some more riding of rides and went back to our hotel for a swim and a nap that afternoon. After dinner we went back to the park and saw the light parade. On our way to her favorite rides she tugged on Nate's arm and said "Ride Mary Poppin's horses, please". We spent our evening riding her three favorites, the Carousel, Pooh, and Small World. Her pace was perfect for me. We saw a few pregnant women, but they were barely pregnant. By Day 2 I was waddling. The baby dropped a little while we were at MGM on Sunday. I've always told Nate to kick me if I started to waddle, but he was kind. We just walked a little slower and took more breaks.
We decided to spend our second day at MGM, because of the Playhouse Disney characters that are there. We went to the Live Playhouse Disney Show first thing Sunday morning thinking that would be a great way to start the day. Emily was convinced that Bear was going to get her, so she had her head buried in one of our shoulders the entire time. Every once in awhile she would peek to see what was going on, then bury her face again. So much for starting the day off right! The highlight of our entire trip was meeting Mickey Mouse. Emmy has called Mickey on our cell phone probably a hundred times since we left Florida to see how he's doing. It was such a fun getaway for our little family. And now, we await the arrival of our 4th family member. It's unbelievable to me how quickly time flies. I'm thankful for a husband who wasn't afraid to treat his very pregnant wife and 2 year old to one last vacation before our world turns upside down again. Thanks, honey!

Our suitcase is packed. Emily will be on her
first "B-I-G airplane" tonight. Pray that she'll be a good passenger! We'll have plenty of pictures to post when we get back. Happy Easter, everyone!

We're getting ready for our trip south. Emily wanted to practice wearing her mouse-ears, so she'd be ready to wear them at "disey word" as she says. I asked her what she would like to take on the airplane with her. She found a few friends that would make great companions on the flight. I know they're not all facing the camera, but how many can you identify? They are all Disney characters.

Quick Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Lamb came yesterday for a quick visit. They couldn't leave without getting in the Shortcake house. We had a lot of fun!

Easter...a week early

We did a little Easter egg hunting this afternoon since it was BEAUTIFUL outside and we'll be in Florida next weekend. Part of the anticipation for the hunt came in helping me load the eggs with jelly beans. We got them all loaded and Nate hid them in the back yard. Emmy was successful in finding every last egg. When we got back inside there was a goody basket of fun things we found for a steal with her favorite characters on them. One of which was a Strawberry Shortcake beach ball. The picture shows Emily helping her Daddy blow up the ball. More fun than the egg hunt and goody basket was hearing Emily say "Hosanna" after church today. She learned about the people shouting "Hosanna" while Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey. It's so cool to hear what she's learning! She also thinks that the steeple on top of our church is a castle...Jesus' castle to be precise. Everytime we pull in or out of the parking lot we hear from the back seat..."Jesus' Castle!"
On a completely different subject...we got home from church tonight, and it was one of those...I'm not sure what to eat...don't have much to choose from...maybe leftovers enough for one person. Have you had those moments? Well, Nate was in the mood for pizza rolls. I knew we didn't have any in the freezer inside, but he was determined to eat his pizza rolls, so he went out to the deep freeze to see if there were any out there. To his surprise, there were some out there. The package was opened, and we're pretty sure it moved with us to this house last summer. All that to say, he still baked them. Pure determination to eat his beloved pizza rolls. The oven beeps, he takes them out, bites into one and all I hear from him is "Ugghh". I'm shocked! So, next best thing...Emily's leftover pizza in the fridge. He puts it in the microwave and nukes the daylights out of it. After another "Ugghh", he brings over to me what used to be a piece of pizza. It's now a sticky mess in a pizza box. Oh what a lovely dinner we had. I think he ate the pizza anyway. I had the leftover lasagna.

This is Emily eating her absolute favorite breakfast food in the world...Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. It wouldn't surprise me if she turned into a cinnamon roll today. This one she's working on is number three. I don't think there's room for anymore in her little tummy!

Holy Shortness, Batman!

Marion is a scary place to get your hair cut. You never quite know what you're going to get, seeing as how mullets, perms, and big bangs are still "in" here. I've tried many places and usually resort to cutting my hair on my own. This time, I tried MasterCuts in the mall. I told the girl that I would like to go shoulder-length with a few layers. Didn't think that would be too difficult. I walked out with chin length hair. Since I'm taking this picture of myself it looks shoulder length, but it's really not. It's chin length. All I could say was...holy shortness, Batman! The logic was to go shorter with nano coming. Emily did a great job of pulling my hair out when she was an infant, so with the entrance of Spring and our new arrival, shorter sounded better. It's not horrible, just hard to get used to. Grrr! =o)
