Pop Quiz

We just ended a pretty crazy week. Nate's schedule is insane as it is, but a few more things were added to the schedule last week...some planned...others not-so-planned. My Aunt Minta (Dad's Aunt, so technically my Great Aunt) passed away. She fought illness for a very long time. We had a great memorial service in Louisville. It was awesome to see family that we hadn't seen in a very long time...but the circumstances made it bittersweet. We spent most every other night out at camp. It was fun to see JoEllen and Caislyn. If you haven't seen her, she is such a cute pregnant woman! Now with this heat wave, we're staying in trying to stay cool. We have this crazy window in our dining room from 1954 that is huge and definitely not efficient. None of the panes of glass meet. They all slide in front of or behind the other, but there is no way to seal up the window. It's 3 layers deep, so the elements and bugs don't get in, but hot and/or cold definitely passes through. Our thermostat says 79 degrees inside right now. I can only imagine how hot it is outside for it to be that hot in here. Fortunately a new window is on order and should arrive anyday. Once it is replaced, and the room is insulated and drywalled, we can say farewell to any other major renovations in this house. Praise the Lord! We've lived here for just over a year, and the projects have been non-stop...mostly all cosmetic...but it takes time when you're living in the space you're working on. I'm SO excited to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Going to Grandma's

Emily spent her first weekend in Dayton with Grandma and Grandpa Lamb. We drove her over Thursday and spent the night, then came back Friday so she could stay for a few days. We stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Gafford's house first to say hi before we left. And of course Emily had to crawl through her tunnel a few times.

While in Dayton we dropped in on Great Grandma Lamb for a visit. Then Emily was swallowed up by a big color wheel pillow at Grandpa's office. (His office has a playroom for kids. She thinks that is pretty cool.) Nate, Lauren, and I left Friday to go home and re-tile the area in front of our fireplace, build a half wall in our kitchen, and paint the kitchen. We had one row left of tiles when I took the picture. I'll post the finished product after it's all grouted. Believe it or not, we haven't had time to finish it yet!

Emily had lots of fun at Grandma's house. So much so that she is crashed out on the couch holding her new Build a Bear Winnie the Pooh that she made with Grandma and Aunt Stephanie. If you squeeze Pooh's arm, you are graced with a little tune of Emmy singing the Winnie the Pooh theme song...well most of it. The record time was 8 seconds and her version of the song goes a little more like 12 seconds, so she finishes the song live for whoever is listening to the recording. Lauren also crashed in my arms. I think she's tired from all the sleeping that she does.

Aside from the tile work and painting the kitchen...which we'll post pictures of once it's trimmed out...we have another crazy week ahead of us. Not to mention the most humid weather imaginable. There's nothing like an Indiana summer!

Weekend pics

I don't have a lot of time to write, but there are lots of pictures to look at. We went swimming at the Wolfe's on Saturday and Lauren tried out Emmy's bed yesterday afternoon at naptime. Emily thought that was pretty fun! If only I had a picture of Lauren before she got her bath. It was unbelievable! OH, and Emily decided that the couch might be a little more comfortable for her nap than the wood floors. (Ken and Robin, check out her shirt!)
